Inside everyone

is a great shout of joy

waiting to be born.

–David Whyte, The Winter of Listening

I am a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in holistic psychiatry and transformational psychotherapy in New York City. I support my patients in their efforts to construct a life that feels authentic and vibrant. All aspects of my background, from my roots in the humanities to my expertise in psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and neuroscience, are brought to bear in this alliance.

Evidence-based psychotherapy and the judicious use of psychotropic medications are the mainstays of western mental health treatment, and many patients can benefit from one or both. Based on the initial assessment, we will develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to your needs.

In addition to extensive psychopharmacology expertise, I use a number of evidence-based psychotherapy modalities, including psychodynamic, supportive, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational enhancement therapy. I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration to appropriate candidates.

In addition to conventional psychotherapy, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and/or other psychotropic medications, I consider lifestyle interventions that might be beneficial—essential, even—in each patient’s pursuit of wholeness and vitality. These might include developing a mindfulness practice, incorporating daily exercise, engagement in music or literature, and activities that allow for creative expression or cultivate a sense of play.

Depending on your concerns, additional support might be required. This could include referrals to other medical and integrative specialists for further testing and treatment, and/or collaboration with trusted practitioners in complementary disciplines, including (but not limited to):

Acupuncture | Massage | Reiki

Movement practices (e.g., Tai Chi, hatha yoga)

Meditation | Spiritual Counseling

Hypnotherapy | Nutritional Counseling

Philosophical Counseling

Kundalini yoga | Holotropic breathwork
